In the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s, Bert Bickerton was working as a painter and decorator in the Chesham & Amersham area. His first son Ray, worked alongside him and both were well-respected in the local area. Later in the ‘80s, John (Bert’s second son) joined them. One day, their regular paint supplier closed. After a year of sourcing materials in adjoining towns, they realised that there was a real need for a supplier of decorating supplies in Amersham.
Over thirty years ago in January 1990, Amersham Decorating Supplies was established. We began as a small decorator’s merchant based on the White Lion Road in Amersham, and since then we have continued to provide professional advice, expertise, and a wide range of decorating supplies to both professional trade and home-decorators in South Buckinghamshire and the surrounding areas.
Today, Amersham Dec is run by Bert’s grandson (John’s son – Mike) with the able assistance of Ray’s grandson Jacob, and a team of long-standing staff including Charlie.
We still maintain the same values today as we did back in those early years – recognising the importance of our customer relationships, providing advice and experience wherever possible; supplying only the highest quality products, and always going the extra mile to help wherever we can. These values have enabled us to flourish, and we are proud to be known as the ‘go-to’ supplier in the local area and beyond.
Our ranges have continued to expand, and we now supply an extensive selection of paints from leading and popular brands including Dulux Trade and Crown Trade, specialist coatings from Graphenstone, Zinsser and Rustoleum, and designer brands such as Benjamin Moore and Little Greene. If paint isn’t your thing, then we also have a variety of woodcare products from Cuprinol, Sadolin, and Sikkens, and a complete range of decorating sundries and equipment. Our warehouse is a real treasure trove of supplies!
